Guardian Angel By Britto

Famed artist, Romero Britto, created The Guardian Angel in 1988 as an original canvas that depicts an angel watching over a child holding a heart. This captures the strength and vibrancy of all children who face an early and unexpected loss of life.

23rd Annual Rochester Conference in Perinatal Medicine

Perinatal Loss and Stillbirth

Thursday, May 27, 2010 / Rochester Riverside Convention Center, 123 East Main Street, Rochester, NY

Activity Description / Needs Statement:
This conference is designed to inform physicians, nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, and nurses who take care of obstetrical patients, of advances and changes in OB practice. Pregnancy loss and stillbirth occur in 5-12 per 1000 live births and is more common than death due to prematurity and sudden infant death syndrome combined. Care and evaluation of patients experiencing pregnancy loss is exceedingly important for their psychological well being as well as optimizing outcome in future pregnancies. This conference will bridge the gaps in knowledge about the etiologies of pregnancy loss and provide the tools for all care providers to assist patients through this difficult situation.

Activity Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to:

  • Identify the possible etiologies of stillbirth and perinatal loss.
